I hate to tell you this, but someone has to do it.
Here’s the tea- Some days you don’t have it. Meaning you’re done, uninspired, and no manner of Eat, Pray, Love, or Iyanla spirit wellness exercises will change the way you’re feeling. You do know that, right?
You're waking up without any patience, no more smiles and 'it’ll be OK' or 'girl you got this' memes to get you through the next virtual school crisis. None, nada, zip. Your last reserves were spent on useless work meetings and becoming the adjunct IT Support for your kid's latest virtual learning class or some of the other 50 million things we have to do now that we’re all in COVID time. You don't have it to give anymore. You’re not inspired and you are certainly not okay.
Can we acknowledge that? If we're really being honest, I too had to to look in the mirror and say to myself I’m not OK. But, guess what?. I was okay with that. Every day won’t be great. This life is not made up of roses and rainbows alone. Sometimes it’s gritty and 2020 has not done any of us any favors. What I will submit to you is that 1) it’s okay not to be okay. Once you realize that, you've won half the battle. 2) there is power in giving yourself grace. You deserve it.
Adulting in 2020 takes monumental effort. Forgive yourself for the lunches that aren’t quite perfect. There’s always grocery shopping to be done, clothes to put away, the family to entertain and love on, work, and any business you may have. A lot of living is going on right now. Life gets hard sometimes but you don’t have to carry it on your own. Remember there is only one you. Develop your own love language and encourage yourself to do what you can while consistently maintaining your level of self-care. The rest can wait until tomorrow.
